We just took in a classic bass, this great playing 2002 Fender American Jazz Bass in Sunset Orange Transparent. It's a rare variation of the American Series production run - you don't see these very often.
In the early 2000's, instead of the American Standard flagship line, Fender had the American Series. It ran from 2000 till 2007, when the American Standard series came back. For a lot of bass players, the American Series Jazz bass from this era is highly sought after, especially this one because it's a transparent finish over a premium ash body (instead of alder). You get a classic, punchy mid-range and tight lows that serve the tone of a Jazz bass quite well. The bass has a fast Modern C neck profile on the maple neck, which is easy to play. It has a slim 1.5" nut width, medium jumbo frets and a 9.5" radius, adding to the modern feel. You also get a graphite-reinforced neck with rolled edges. Put simply, this is a great feeling Jazz bass.
Where the bass really shines is the sounds - this bass has the classic Jazz bass sound, thanks to dual American Series single-coil pickups and passive electronics. Other features include open gear die-cast tuners, a vintage style bridge and a 3-ply parchment pickguard that looks great against the Sunset Orange Transparent body.
The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly. While the original case is gone, the bass does comes with a gig bag. Made in California nearly a quarter century ago, this bass has been kept in excellent condition and already stood the test of time. It's ready to go for the rest of the century!
